Metrology & Validation Equipment for Semiconductor Operations

GSE supports technical procurement around wafer inspection calibration, particle standards, contamination metrology and controlled-environment visualization.

Reduce ambiguity before the PO

For wafer standards and inspection calibration, the RFQ should identify the inspection platform, wafer diameter, target particle size, particle material and deposition pattern. Those inputs affect the product configuration directly.

For airflow studies, include room or tool geometry, required fog travel and any cleanliness or working-fluid restrictions.

Semiconductor purchasing context

Metrology artifacts must be tied to the tool and procedure

Wafer diameter, inspection platform, particle material, nominal size and deposition pattern are not optional catalog filters. They define the calibration artifact.

When the request is for particles rather than a deposited wafer, specify the instrument and presentation method so a suspension, powder or other format is not assumed incorrectly.

Preserve these fields through procurement

  • Inspection or measurement tool model
  • Wafer format and substrate
  • Particle material and nominal size
  • Deposition or presentation method
  • Certificate and traceability requirements
  • Packaging, handling and required quantity

Contamination control and airflow are separate but connected

Particle standards help verify measurement and inspection workflows. Airflow visualization helps teams observe movement around tools, zones and controlled spaces. Neither should be used as a substitute for the other, and each requires a separate acceptance method.

Use one project brief, then split the technical lines

A fab or equipment team can submit both needs in a single project RFQ while preserving distinct specifications. This gives procurement one commercial process without flattening the engineering requirements.

Manufacturer relationship

Selected calibration wafer standards, particle standards and airflow-visualization products in the GSE catalog are manufactured by Applied Physics Corporation. GSE provides the distributor-side sourcing, quotation and procurement support.

Frequently asked questions

Buying and specification questions

Answers are intentionally scoped to the purchasing decision. Final engineering details, configuration, price and lead time are confirmed in the quotation and manufacturer documentation.

Can GSE quote a calibration wafer for a named inspection tool?

Yes. Include the exact manufacturer/model, wafer format, particle material, nominal size, deposition pattern and documentation requirements.

Are particle standards and calibration wafer standards the same product?

No. A wafer standard presents particles on a wafer substrate. Particle standards may be supplied in other formats for different instruments and procedures.

Can airflow visualization equipment be included in the same project?

Yes, but it should remain a separate technical line with its own geometry, pressure, hose, fluid and documentation requirements.
