CRF3 Ultrasonic Fogger

A portable ultrasonic fogging system designed for visible airflow studies using DI water, sterile water or WFI.

ManufacturerApplied Physics CorporationCRF Series ultrasonic fogger

Where the CRF3 fits

The CRF3 sits in the portable, mid-scale portion of the airflow visualization range. It is suited to localized studies where an ultrasonic water-based fogger is preferred over liquid-nitrogen equipment.

Working fluid

Applied Physics specifies the CRF3 for DI water, sterile water or WFI operation. It is an ultrasonic system and is not intended for liquid nitrogen.

Typical applications

  • Barrier isolators and RABS
  • Biosafety cabinets and similar enclosures
  • Localized cleanroom airflow visualization
  • Smoke-study and validation work
  • Research and engineering airflow studies

Before selecting a fogger

Include the test-space dimensions, pressure relationship, desired visual distance, hose requirement and where the fogger will be positioned. Those details can change whether the CRF3 or a higher-output or LN₂ system is the better choice.

Selection position

CRF3 is the portable, mid-scale ultrasonic choice

It is best evaluated for localized cleanroom, enclosure, cabinet and engineering studies where water-based ultrasonic fogging is compatible with the procedure.

The decisive question is not whether the unit makes fog in open air. It is whether the complete setup can deliver visible fog through the planned outlet and hose path into the actual pressure environment.

CRF3 application inputs

  • Test-space dimensions
  • Positive, negative or neutral pressure
  • Fogger location relative to the space
  • Hose length, diameter, bends and reducers
  • Desired visual distance
  • Working-water and cleanliness requirements
  • Control and accessory needs

When CRF3 is a strong fit

  • The study is localized or mid-scale.
  • An ultrasonic water-based platform is preferred.
  • Portability and straightforward setup are important.
  • The delivery path does not impose excessive restriction or pressure resistance.

When to evaluate CRF6 or AP30 instead

Move to the CRF6 when the project needs greater ultrasonic fog output or dual 80 mm outlet routing. Evaluate the AP30 when the procedure is designed around a self-pressurized liquid-nitrogen fogging platform.

Protocol and accessories

Hose assemblies, outlet fixtures, remote operation and other accessories should be specified with the model. A fogger selected without the delivery configuration can underperform in the actual study even when the base unit is appropriate.

Frequently asked questions

Buying and specification questions

Answers are intentionally scoped to the purchasing decision. Final engineering details, configuration, price and lead time are confirmed in the quotation and manufacturer documentation.

Is CRF3 an LN₂ fogger?

No. CRF3 is an ultrasonic water-based fogging system.

What fluids are used with CRF3?

Applied Physics positions the CRF3 for approved water inputs such as DI water, sterile water or WFI. Confirm the current manufacturer instructions for the quoted configuration.

How does CRF3 differ from CRF6?

CRF6 is the higher-output ultrasonic platform and uses dual 80 mm outlets. CRF3 is positioned for portable and mid-scale applications.

Can CRF3 feed fog through a hose into an enclosure?

Potentially, but pressure, hose length, internal diameter, bends and reducers affect delivery. Send the complete route for application review.

Compare before quoting
