Isolator & RABS Smoke-Study Foggers
Pressure, openings, glove activity and hose entry make isolator and RABS fogger selection fundamentally different from open-room visualization.
The purchasing problem
A fogger may appear strong in open air but deliver little through a long hose into a positive-pressure isolator. Conversely, excessive internal output can obscure the critical view. Barrier studies require a controlled balance between delivery pressure, fog volume, outlet geometry, access and the intervention sequence.
Decision points that control fit
- Closed, open or transfer state of the barrier system
- Positive or negative pressure relative to the surrounding room
- Glove, door, mouse-hole and transfer interventions
- Fogger inside, beside or outside the enclosure
- Hose diameter, length, bends, reducers and elevation
- Single versus split entry points
- Camera access and lighting through windows

Compare the evidence before selecting the model
Quote the complete working package
Accessories, hose assemblies, standards, certificates, transport, installation, training and validation documents can determine whether the system is usable. A low base-unit quote with missing scope is not a lower-cost solution.
Commercial and specification questions
The selector and page content narrow the requirement. The formal quotation confirms the current configuration, commercial terms and included documentation.
Why does fog disappear at the isolator inlet?
Positive pressure, long or small-diameter hoses, bends, reducers, splitters and elevation can consume the available delivery margin.
Should the fogger be placed inside the isolator?
That may improve delivery but introduces space, cleaning, utility and procedural constraints. The site must approve the setup.
Is dual-outlet delivery always better?
No. It can improve distribution, but splitting output can also reduce flow at each point or complicate interpretation.
What drawing should be submitted?
A marked plan showing pressure, fogger location, hose path, entry ports, critical zones, interventions and camera positions.
