Define the real need date

Separate purchase deadline, shipment date, arrival date, installation date, qualification date and operational-use date.

Confirm manufacturer timing

Ask whether the stated lead time starts at quote, order, deposit, technical approval or release to production.

Add configuration and calibration

Options, custom work, certificates, software, FAT and pre-shipment calibration can extend the schedule.

Plan logistics

Include pickup, export documentation, transit, customs, duty, last-mile delivery and appointment constraints.

Prepare the site

Utilities, network, cleanroom access, rigging, safety review and change control can become the critical path.

Reserve acceptance time

Allow for receipt inspection, installation, calibration verification, SAT, IQ/OQ and deviation resolution.
