The equipment is not commercially complete when it leaves a factory. Define who owns each step through receipt and acceptance.
Shipping term
Origin, destination, freight payer, risk transfer, carrier selection and insurance.
Packaging
Crating, shock/tilt indicators, environmental protection, dangerous-goods or cryogenic constraints.
Import
Importer of record, tariff classification, duties, broker, country-of-origin and documentation.
Site delivery
Dock, appointment, lift gate, inside delivery, rigging, cleanroom transfer and storage.
Inspection
Packaging condition, model/options, serial numbers, accessories, certificates and damage evidence.
Acceptance
Functional checks, calibration review, installation, SAT/IQ/OQ, deviation handling and signoff authority.
Document damage immediately
Photograph the package before opening, preserve carrier labels and note visible damage on delivery documents. Follow the quotation, carrier and insurance claim instructions; delay can impair recovery.
Do not confuse receipt with acceptance
Payment and title terms may not match technical acceptance. The purchase order should state the applicable process and deadlines.
